Preparation
Before You Begin: you will need the following items;
- A marker pen, biro, felt-tip, wax crayon or anything else which will leave a mark on your cup (see below),
- An EMPTY DISPOSABLE beverage container, many an amateur has scalded his lap for ignoring this sage advice: First drink the drink, then transcribe your smug, satisfied grin onto the cup. This is the Zen of making your own StevieCups.
With those precious items in hand, you're ready to begin...
note: if your drink was a cold one, you may need to wipe any condensation from the cup before you begin. Napkins may help you do this.
Step 1
Begin by drawing the eyes, right handed folk tend to draw the left eye first - this avoids the possibility of smudging it when you draw the next eye. For left handed folk, please reverse this instruction.
Each eye is a thick vertical line, usually about an inch in length and about an inch apart. The size of your eye lines should guide you in drawing your mouth line in the next step.
Step 2
Next comes the complicated bit; The mouth is a squared line beginning at the same height as the bottom of the eyes, about three quarters of an inch to one side of the eyes, again right handed folk will draw this starting over at the left, lefties should do the opposite.This line goes down about a half inch, then all the way across to the same distance (three quarters of an inch) from the other eye, then a short up-line finishes stevies smile.
Many people stop here and have a perfectly good StevieCup, however some may go on to the advanced technique (see step 3).
Step 3
Advanced TechniqueWrite "StevieCup" underneath the smile you have just drawn, usually near the bottom of the cup.
Some pro-StevieCuppers write "StevieCup.co.uk" on the bottom, to illustrate to the uninitiated, precisely what is missing from their lives.
You may also add any further decorations, additions and accessories you deem appropriate.
Finished!
